The story of Saint Valentine starts a long time ago. There was an emperor that wanted bigs army for his wars but people didn't want to join the army 'cause they didn't want to leave the land or their families and their friends. So Valentine promulgated a new law that prohibited weddings for soldiers who where forbidden to marry and just for this he was imprisioned. During his difficult period, he met a guard's daughter, that became immediatey a friends of Valentine. Before his death, he wrote a letter to her, signed "From your Valentine".
Today, many people celebrate their love for their partner by sending cards or letters, giving flowers or sweets, but also presents like jowelleries, chocolate, and big peluches.
The most common Valentine's Day symbol is the heart and 'cupido', particularly in red or in blue. The famous sentence is "Will you be my Valentine?".
